EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUEs (eft)

EFT is based on a revolutionary discovery that the cause of all negative emotions can be attributed to a disruption in the body’s energy system. It works quickly and efficiently to dissolve negative emotions within the body.


EFT is a technique that has profound psychological effects. While some other techniques help change your behaviour, these energy techniques have the potential to change your life
.

EVERY negative emotion we experience, including depression, anger, frustration, stress, grief, guilt, anxiety, fear, etc, is a result of a blockage somewhere in the body’s energy system.  The body is  electrical in its nature & energy is carried through tiny pathways known as meridians in the same way that arteries and vessels carry the body’s blood. 


When that energy is blocked or disrupted by a traumatic event, be it large or small, we feel a negative emotion – e.g. embarrassment, fear or anger. We are all individuals and all react differently to stressful or traumatic situations. It is the MEANING that each individual attaches to an event that causes the stress. What is stressful for one person may not be to another.  


We are conditioned from a very early age not to think about our feelings. We subconsciously train ourselves not to connect within and think about how we are TRULY feeling deep inside. We DISCONNECT ourselves for our own safety. We are told by our parents or caregivers when we are hurt, “be brave” or “don’t be a sook” or “don’t worry, you’ll get over it”. Try telling your energy system that all is ok. When something triggers memories of a past event we would prefer to forget & we get physical reactions within our bodies such as crying, headaches, tight chest, choking throat or a lurching in our stomach.


Our emotions are our guidance system and when we use EFT to truly address the underlying emotions, physical changes occur. Our headaches go, we feel happy & enthusiastic, not tense & angry, our bodies no longer feel the tension. Life seems to run smoothly and we have a more positive outlook.


 If we don’t effectively deal with the traumas or the ‘core issues’ in our lives that are driving our depression, anger or grief, we find other ways of coping such as drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, taking drugs or we commit suicide. All of this is preventable if we use EFT.


EFT interrupts the pattern and breaks the connections between the mind & body, which cause the negative emotions. It enables the person to think of the traumatic or unpleasant event WITHOUT emotional reaction.


It becomes just ‘another thing’ that happened to them. Sure, it may still be sad and they may wish it hadn’t happened, but the person is then able to let that thought float over them & they can move on with their life.


Here’s a simple way of understanding how EFT works.

Think of your life as a river flowing downstream.


 When we are young, in most cases, our river is flowing fast & furiously. Little by little as life progresses, we have experiences, which can cause our river to gather rocks. These rocks can be any size…rocks of school or work problems may be the smaller ones, but the rocks of serious illness, abuse, death & trauma are the bigger ones.
At first, the river flows over the rocks but over time, if not cleared, the river starts blocking, can change course & in some cases, weaken to a trickle. When things are REALLY serious, the river can burst its banks & cause mayhem.
EFT works to remove these blocks in a surprisingly quick & efficient way.
Sometimes a large & cumbersome rock that has been stubbornly embedded can be removed in one session. Other times we can roll it out of the way in the first session & pick it up with a crane in the second!  Once the largest rocks are removed, a lot of the smaller ones naturally wash away downstream.

It is my dream that one day EFT will be used by everybody in their daily lives as a normal practice.
I believe deep down that one day EFT will be used in our hospitals, & more especially our organisations which deal in Trauma of any kind so that these people can continue doing what they love doing without carrying the crippling emotional baggage
that can ruin their lives.
